The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) organizes the GREEN Olympiad every year for school students. The Olympiad was first held in 1999 and since then is held annually. The main aim of this Olympiad is to test the fundamental knowledge of students regarding various environmental issues like sustainable development, biodiversity etc. It also raises the awareness about these environmental issues amongst the students. The CBSE has endorsed the TERI for conducting GREEN Olympiad in schools across India.

GREEN Olympiad 2020

This year the GREEN Olympiad will be held in an online mode so that students can participate in it from the comfort of their homes. All they need is a laptop or computer and a high speed internet. One of the main things about the 2020 Olympiad is that it will contain a section of Covid-19 pandemic so that our students also become aware about the recent pandemic and its effects and also how they can effectively remain safe from the Coronavirus.

Who Can Participate and What Will be the Format?

All the students studying in classes IV to XII can participate in this Olympiad. There will be 50 multiple choice questions in English language. These questions will be based on topics related to environment like climate change, biodiversity, waste, agriculture, biodiversity, health, and sustainable development etc.

The Olympiad will be held on 26 November 2020 OR 17 December 2020 and the duration of the same will be 1 hour. The students can select the time from anytime between 9 am to 6 pm.

Students can register for the 2020 GREEN Olympiad through by registering themselves online on the official website of Teriin Org.

The last date for Registration is –30 September 2020

The registration fee for the Olympiad is Rs 75 per student and the payment can be made through net banking, credit card or debit card.

All those students who will participate in the Olympiad will get the participation certificates. Other than this the winners will be presented with Mementoes and Certificates. Even the teacher coordinates will get the certificates. The students will also get the chance to participate in various projects and activities of TERI and may also get an internship opportunity.
