Digital Classroom Guidelines Issued by NCERT

Owing to the Coronavirus epidemic, school education will be conducted online for two more months. In such a situation, NCERT has prepared the Digital Classroom Guidelines for students taking online classes from home. These guidelines have been sent to all the schools, which have been instructed to send them to the parents of the children so that they make sure that the guidelines are being followed.

It is evident that many students are missing from online class every now and then. The students face lack of concentration and also complain of back pain, eye pain and headache etc. Online classes are taken more as a burden by students because they are made to sit in the same position for a long time, which ultimately makes them feel bored and tiresome. Moreover, continuously sitting in the same place in the same position affects the posture leading to back pain etc. So, following these guidelines by NCERT is a must for every student so that their studies are not hampered and they are able to reap the maximum benefit of online classes while remaining safe at their home.

Digital Classroom Guidelines

  • Do Exercise and Yoga- As per the guidelines by the NCERT, all school children are required to practice yoga and do exercise on a regular basis to keep their posture correct.  This practice will reduce the complaints of pain of hands, back etc. in students.
  • Avoid Studying in Bed- While taking online class always sit on a chair and avoid studying in bed.
  • Keep Safe Distance from Mobile Screen-If you are studying with a mobile, keep it at a proper distance from the eyes. Use chair in case you are taking class on television (TV) and your head should be at level with the screen of the TV.
  • Take a Walk-After sitting for 20 minutes, students should stand for eight minutes and walk for two minutes.

Instruction for Teachers

Teachers will have to regularly monitor whether a student is sitting properly or not while studying. If found not doing so the teacher will then inform the guidelines to concerned student. One such guideline is to see that the student is never bending, but always keeping the back straight while studying online.

 Benefits of following the Guidelines

  • Students will be relieved of physical and mental stress.
  • Their Interest in digital studies will also grow.
  • Their concentration will increase and they will be able to do every assignment on time.
