The World Students' Day is celebrated across the globe on 15 October every year. It coincides with the birth anniversary of Indian aerospace scientist doctor A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who was also the 11th president of India. He is popularly known as the Missile Man of India for his immense contribution in the field of space research.

Early Life and Education of Dr. Abdul Kalam
The full name of Dr. Abdul Kalam was Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. He was born on 15 October, 1931 in a Tamil Muslim family in Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. By his early childhood, his became poor and had to sell newspapers to supplement his family's income.
Dr. Kalam was a hardworking student and had a strong desire to learn. He was dedicated towards his studies and had a keen interest in mathematics. He did his graduation from the Madras Institute of Technology in 1960, and joined the Aeronautical Development Establishment of the Defence Research and Development Organisation He also joined politics and then went on to become the 11th president of India.
Many Achievements of Dr. Abdul Kalam
Dr. Abdul Kalam received many awards and accolades throughout his life. In 1981, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Vibhushan in 1981 and 1990 respectively. He was also the recipient of the Bharat Ratna award for his contributions to space research and Science and also his work with the Defence Research and development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
His other achievements include being the Chief Project Coordinator of nuclear bombs testing at Pokhran, which proved to be a successful mission. Other than these, he was also an author and wrote many books including ‘Wings of Fire’, ‘Ignited Minds – Unleashing the power within India’ etc.
