School Kits for 39 lakh School children in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh government will distribute 39 lakh school kits to children under the Jagananna Vidya Kanuka scheme. These kits will include books, uniforms, bags and other supplies. A statement related to the same was released by Chief Minister (CM) Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

This announcement falls under the revamp of 15, 715 schools under Phase 1 of the Mana Badi Nedu Nedu scheme, that is about to end.

About the Mana Badi Nedu Nedu Scheme

Mana Badi Nedu Nedu Scheme focuses on the renovation of government schools in the state. The first phase of the scheme involves renovation of 15,715 government schools. This includes installation of fans, blackboards, water purifiers, cupboards and other furniture in school premises. Apart from this, the schools will have facilities such as compound walls, English labs and toilets.

Installation of Mineral Water Plants under the Scheme

The statement also mentioned that the Chief Minister wanted mineral water plants must be installed in every school. This measure will ensure that students in the schools get pure quality mineral water for drinking. The statement further mentioned that maintaining proper hygiene was also important for the schools.

Other Important Measures to be Taken

In the second phase of the scheme around 14, 585 educational institutes will be identified by August 31, 2020 and in the third phase around 16, 489 by June 30, 2021. There are other measures that the government will take other measures like including coaching for competitive exams like IIT, JEE entrance exams.
