Steven Paul Jobs was one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world and was a legendary figure in the computer revolution of 1970s and 1980s. Steve along with his friend Steve Wozniak founded the technology company Apple Inc. in 1976.

In an interview with the Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, Steve stated that it is the passion and the people that make a company successful. He also attributed his success to his passion and his team.

Early Life and Education

 He was born in San Francisco, California, and put up for adoption. He was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He entered the Reed College in Portland, Oregon in 1972.  He along with his friend Steve Wozniak founded Apple Inc. in a suburban California garage, which later turned into a successful venture with estimated worth of 870 billion dollars.

His Contributions Towards Digital Technology

He has been listed as the inventor in 346 U.S. patents for technological products like actual computer, portable devices or touch based user interfaces.

He got the idea of selling the desktop computer, which ultimately led to the formation of Apple Computer in 1976.

His contribution also lies in the development of personal computer, The Lisa, which was designed by Apple during the early 1980s.

Jobs introduced the Macintosh computer on January 24, 1984. This was the first mass-market personal computer featuring an integral graphical user interface and mouse.

He also contributed to the development of iTunes media player. ITunes is used to play, download, and organize digital audio and video on personal computers.

The release of iPhone smartphone by Apple created sensation among the people. It became a very popular smartphone and despite its high cost was successful in getting a customer base.

He Died Due to Pancreatic Cancer

The death of Steve Jobs came as a big shock to the world. He died due to complications of pancreatic cancer and was struggling with the disease since a long time. But despite his ill health he remained the face of the company. Even as he underwent treatment for the cancer he remained engaged in his work and introduced new products for a global market. He stepped down from his post in August and was replaced by Timothy D. Cook. Steve died at the age of 56.
